I should get my stuff. She had meant to do that earlier today but kept putting it off, till it got later and later.

She hadn't done much of anything today, had barely been out of her room. It was silly to mope around like this, Chris knew that, but decided to indulge herself for a while. In a day or two, she'd leave her room and go back outside.

It would be easier would be easier when she was back at work, she'd be too busy to get bogged down by memories.

Her happiness over the powers did take some of the edge off of Chris' worry.

Until she said the next sentence.

"At all?"

"I don't know...my teacher said that we...we don't. Not really. Or we do it so slowly..."

"So..." Chris sighs, feeling out of her depth. "So, do you have a longer lifespan?"

She was a little afraid of the answer,

She nods, "A lot longer," she takes a breath. "I...I'd outlive everyone."

Kim's gift is starting to sound more like a curse.

"I'm sorry."

[agirllost]

"It's okay," she tries to smile, "I don't have to worry about it for a long time."

"Who else knows about this?"

[agirllost]

She glances over Chris's shoulder. "Not...many people," she says evasively.

Chris tilts her head in confusion. "Who?"

[agirllost]

"You're one of the first I've told."

"What about Chase and your father? Do they know?"

[agirllost]

"Chase knows...we talked about it..."

"And Dad...doesn't, but I'll tell him when he gets back."

"Right," she says quietly.

Chris rubs her forehead, wishing she could focus. "How do you know this?"

And here she might remind Chris of some X-Files characters.

"I just know," she looks at her. "It doesn't really matter how."

She's reluctant to tell Chris about her teacher, but she's not sure why.

"I think it does matter."

[agirllost]

"Someone told me, they said that where they're from...people with these abilties, they don't age like normal people."

"Why won't you tell me who it is?" Her tone isn't accusing, just confused.

And, perhaps, a little suspicious.

"It's my teacher, not that many people know about her..."

"Is she someone from the bar?" Chris imagines she must be.

"Yes, she...really helped me."

Chris nods. "Well, that's good." She's still wondering why Kim was being so evasive.

"How did you meet her? Is she the one who gave you the powers?"

[agirllost]

She shakes her head slightly, "She's the one that saved me from myself."

"She saved you from yourself," Chris repeats, more confused by the moment. She had thought Nita was the one who had stopped Kim from hurting herself.

"When I first developed the powers...I didn't know what was going on and she helped me...she helps me."

[geeky-agent.livejournal.com]

"Does your teacher have powers like yours?" Chris is wondering if she knows who this person could be.

And she is still wondering why Kim is relunctant to tell her who her teacher is.
