(no subject)

Chris kicks her socks off. Both windows are open and she wore a t-shirt and shorts to bed last night but she still feels too warm. Even though she's half-asleep she realizes that's she running a fever and should still try to stay warm so she keeps the covers over her.

She sighs.

She feels miserable. She's horribly congested in both her chest and head making breathing a little difficult. The rash on her hand hasn't gotten any better, either. She's had to cut her nails down to nubs to keep her from scratching the skin raw.

She doesn't know why she's been sick this long or, more precisely, why it seems to be getting worse.

Kim shoots her an 'are you kidding' look. "It's not good," she goes into Chris's bathroom and finds a washcloth. She wets it and wrings it out, so that it's slightly damp.

"Can you drink anything?"

Chris coughs.

"Yeah, I can," she chokes out. She grabs the bottle from the tray.

"Well, Bar sent up some Nyquil, so hopefully that'll help you sleep. Are you sleeping?"

"A little," she mumbles.

"You need to sleep more. It's the only way to get rid of a sickness. But try the Nyquil and the soup. How long have you felt like this?"

"Um," she thinks for a few moments,"what day is today?"

"Saturday."

[geeky-agent.livejournal.com]

So four days? That doesn't seem right.

"Since Wednesday."

"Did you have a fever yesterday?"

She nods. "On Thursday too, I think."

Chris coughs a little then takes a drink of the water.

"Three days?" She sounds concerned. "Has it gotten any better?"

"No," she sighs.

"I think I'm getting worse."

Kim puts the washcloth on Chris's forehead. "I think you should see a healer...or at least a doctor."

Chris' first instinct is to protest and say she'd be fine, it was just a flu.

But she had flus before and they never turned her pink.

"Probably."

The pink is worrying. As is that rash on her hand.

"Do you need anything to read?"

"No, thank you. It gives me a headache when I try."

A worse headache.

She can understand that feeling. "I could lend you my ipod if you want..."

"No, thank you."

[agirllost]

"Hmm...maybe someone can hook up something so that you can get ahold of someone if you need help..." Kim thinks out loud. She doesn't like the idea of someone with a 103 temp. being alone.

"That's not necessary. I have people checking on me."

"Okay, but if it gets any worse...we do know a lot of healers."

"I know," she coughs.

Then in a hoarse voice adds, "Thank you, Kim."

She gives her a small smile. "It's the least I could do, Chris. You know, if you wanted, I could read something to you."

"That's all right. Most of the books I have are pretty dry." She smiles back.

"Besides, I should probably rest."

"Do you want me to tell your dad that you're...pink if I see him?"

Chris laughs and then coughs.

"Yeah...except... um...did you hear about what happened to Tony?"

"Yeah, I saw it," Kim gives her a curious look. "Your dad wasn't..."

"He was. He looks kind of like Audrey Raines now but with short hair. And probably smoking."

[agirllost]

"Audrey? As in my dad's old girlfriend, Audrey? Um, that could be awkward..."

This is news.

"Your dad dated Audrey? I didn't know that," she mumbles.

"That is awkward." More than you realize.

She gives her an odd look. "Yeah. They worked together in DC and dated a few months. I think they were together until April 25, actually, from some things Audrey said," she shrugs. "I know my dad really cared about her."

She gives her a slight grin, "Well it's a good thing they're not dating *now*."

So he was with her when he went back. Chris is too tired to really process this.

She notices the grin. "Why's that?"

"Because that would have been *really* awkward."

She smiles weakly. "Right."

[agirllost]

"Anyway, I should let you rest...are you sure you're going to be okay alone?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Thanks, Kim."

[agirllost]

"Anytime," she smiles a little. "I hope you feel better, Chris. Have a good nap." And she leaves the room.
