[Millitimed to Friday evening, after the softball game.]
Chris came up to her room and closed the door quietly behind her. She leaned against the closed door and looked at her room. But she didn't really see anything.
Dad's happy.
It was something she had known for a while, on some level, but hadn't realized. She's been focused on the past, on her feelings, on what he left behind, on their family to really see how her father was handling this.
She'd been focused so long on the things that weren't that she had stopped realizing what she had. She'd been given something people had been looking for - answers. Life continued after death and even though her family wasn't together now, they would be one day.
Chris still wished her brother and sister were here but she could accept that they weren't. They were ok, they were happy and they were moving on with their lives.
I need to do the same.
She had been wasting time, wanting to fix things that couldn't be fixed. Right things that would never be made right. She'd been so focused on her dad's death she hadn't thought much about his life. He'd left a lot behind but he had lived a full life.
And her anger and sadness didn't help her and only hurt him.
With a sigh she moved away from the door.
