Chris kept refreshing the page, waiting for updates. She hadn't really been able to sleep all day. She'd barely been able to focus all day - constantly looking for a news update. During the evening she started to rest and she fell asleep with the radio on.
She woke up around 3:30am after she had a dream that Air Force one had crashed.
A few minutes later she realized it wasn't a dream.
She hated this. She hated feeling useless. Chris knew if she were still at CTU she'd be working nonstop, through the night and into the next day.
As much as she hated those days she hated this more. She hated having to stand on the sidelines and just watch.
She had had half a mind to call CTU and see if they needed any extra help.
Chris let out a short, bitter laugh. She left CTU to save her sanity and now being away from it was driving her crazy.
She turned up the volume on the radio and refreshed the page one more time. She felt tired but anxious. If she was going to be up for the night she was going to need caffeine.
Chris got up from the desk and put her hand on the doorknob. When she opened the door she saw a familiar sight.
But it wasn't her living room.
