Chris and Jack step out of the bar, into a cold New York City night.

The first big difference from Milliways? All the noise. The sound of horns from the cars on the street, cops blowing their whistles as they direct traffic and someone down the street playing a violin come together to create their own symphony.

She pulls her wrap a little tighter around her shoulders and looks over at Jack with a smile. "Surprise."

"I'm not sure what ones he saw. And I don't remember seeing you on the cards."

Chris blinks. "This ... this might be the weirdest moment of my life."

Which is really saying a lot.

"Yeah, which says something, considering, you know, Milliways," he says wryly.

Chris nods, falling silent for a few moments as she thinks about this. I'm a fictional character character! Everyone I know is a fictional character...and we're on tv? How does that even work!?

He looks at her, a little concerned. "Sweetheart?"

"Sorry," she says, smiling ruefully and rubbing her forehead. "I was just... thinking."

Chris gives a dismissive wave of her hand. "It's been a strange week."

He smiles. "Every week in Milliways is a strange week."

Chris smiles at this and tries to shrug off all worries and thoughts of the past week. The rest of the dinner continues pleasantly and the conversation is...slightly less weird.

After the meal, the couple leaves to their next destination. Jack is not told anything until the cabs pulls up in front of Lincoln Center, home of the New York Philharmonic.

Chris hopes he likes Christmas music.
