Betrayed

Honor.

That was something that she had always believed in. She was raised to believe that serving her country was a worthwhile cause. A noble cause.

Her father gave years of his life to his country. She did. Her brother did. They all sacrificed because they believed in something bigger than themselves.

Even though she knew the darker sider of their work, even though she knew the risks she had never thought they would be so cruely betrayed.

Her father was murdered and it was just swept under the rug. No investigation. No trial. No punishment. No retribution.

Just lies.

Her father's sacrifice was never even acknowledged. Her family's pain was forgotten. They were all forgotten. Those responsible - they never paid. They still had their reputations, their freedom, their lives.

For all their talk of justice and integrity - they had never admitted to what they'd done.

Cowards.

Kim knows this is a bad idea. But she's her father's daughter so that knowledge doesn't even stop her. And she has to see how Chris is doing. So she knocks.

His stomach in knots, Jack reaches Chris' room and knocks on the door. Anticipation is always the worst part of anything bad, and he tells himself again that it's better to get this over with.
