Chris rolls over in bed, trying to hide from the creeping sun. Suddenly she's sitting up in bed looking for the clock, certain that she's slept through the alarm because it's so sunny out and it must be later in the morning than...

Then she finds the clock, realizes she still has a good while before she has to get up and sighs with relief. Collapsing onto the bed, she pulls the covers over her head and goes back to sleep.

"Tony was his brother," Chris says, voice catching at the last word, "he do anything for the both of you."
God, she had to get back to talk to him soon to see how he was doing.

"More his brother than Alex," she whispers. "Jack never - he didn't - he never felt pity for him. He didn't try to change him." She touches Chris's hand after a moment.

"He was just...my Tony," she presses her lips together. "I think you're dating the only man more stubborn than him."

Then, remembering, she cranes her neck and looks into the kitchen. "I think the coffee's ready. Do you want something to eat?"
no subject
"Do you have any saltines?"

A few minutes of searching later, she produced a ziplock bag filled with oyter crackers. "Would these work? I also have plain graham crackers."

"How far along are you?"
no subject
"I haven't seen a doctor yet."

"If you want," she begins carefully after taking a sip of coffee, "when you're ready to go, I'll go with you."

She takes another sip of coffe and, out of the corner of her eye, catches sight of the clock. "I should probably get ready for work."

"How is working for Bill?"

"I forgot how different working at a CTU branch can be from being at District or Division." Four years and she was almost right back where she started.

"I know what you mean," and for a second she misses it so much it's a physical ache. "Overseeing is different from being there."

Even when she worked at a corporation, she'd always been in the tech department, surrounded by the geeks.

Regardless of what Jack said, Michelle thinks there's something wrong about the entire situation. He might not want to face the truth, but she's not sure that the danger's entirely passed.

"Ok," she says slowly. "Is there something wrong?"
Aside from everything else, of course.
no subject
"No. We'll talk about it when there's time."
Because she knows it won't be a short conversation.
She stands, suddenly aware that a day will come in the future when a simple task like standing will be more difficult.

She also gets to her feet. "Listen, if you want to talk more later tonight, I can come over. Or we could meet up and go out to dinner."
