OOC: AU!Chris backstory
Nov. 14th, 2005 11:23 amThe story starts out the same. Christine Keller Chappelle was born to Victoria Keller and Ryan Chappelle on September 20, 1980. The marriage was short lived, her mother walked out on them when Chris was barely two years old.
Her father had a hard time raising a young daughter and trying to get his career as a screenwriter off the ground. Still, Ryan doted on his only child and Chris grew to be rather a spoiled and demanding child.
After years of little success he finally had a break and sold a script which was turned into the family sitcom "Just the Two of Us". The show revolved around a young widower, Mike Hensley, who was struggling to raise his precocious daughter, Brittany. The producers were still casting for the role of "Brittany Hensley" and chose a six-year old Christine Chappelle. For the next seven-years Chris Chappelle would become famous for her role and would be the breadwinner of her family. She also starred in moderately-succesful family films such as "Who Stole Christmas?" "One Big Happy Family," "The Wonder Twins," and a remake of the Hayley Mills classic, "That Darn Cat!"
When the show ended, her career soon followed. Movie offers dried up and Chris had a hard time adjusting to a life that wasn't in the limelight. Call it "child star syndrome". But she soon found ways to get back in the news but this time it was for her lifestyle - reckless partying, drug use, lurid affairs and her out of control behavior made her a regular in the tabloids. She soon got a reputation as a "wild child". During this time in her life, her resentment of her father grew to the point of disgust. Chris often states she might as well have raised herself for all he did for her.
After two short-lived marriages and three trips to rehab she finally got her life together. Somewhat. Chris started taking small roles and eventually had a hit with the romantic comedy "Game of Love". There she played lead a spunky sports reporter, Danni Dwyer, who falls for the star pitcher of the baseball team she's covering. Worried about being typecasted, like before, Chris made sure her next role was the complete opposite. In the independent drama, "Eden Sank to Grief," she had a small but important role as "Lucky" a prostitute who was dying of AIDS. The film was a hit with the critics but a failure with audiences, it didn't even turn a profit. But that didn't really matter to Chris, her plans are more long-term than that.
Thirty is a dangerous age to be for a woman in Hollywood. She knows the clock is ticking and she needs to cement her place in Hollywood now if she doesn't want to fade away. She sees Jack as a way to do that. There was a time when she would have fallen for him and every once in a rare while, she almost thinks she could. But then she realizes she has bigger goals in mind and just like he's using her to pass the time, she's using him to advance her career. Chris long ago decided she wasn't going to be weak, like her father, and let people use her emotions against her. Besides, he's married and it doesn't look like he's going to be leaving Audrey anytime soon. But that's fine for her, all of the perks but none of the commitments is all she wants from him.
She and Jack have been together for several months now, they got together when she first auditioned for the role and Chris realized Palmer was hesitating about casting her. She needed to be in this film and made sure Jack knew that and what she was willing to do get the role. He likes her "up for anything" attitude and is fairly supportive of her ambitions, when it suits him. Jack used his influence to get her tutoring with one of the most prestigious acting coaches in the business. And for Chris' birthday he bought her something that will help with future nude scenes, enough silicon to fill a 34C cup.
All-in-all she's satisfied with her relationship with Jack but if something better came along, she'd have no problem leaving him behind.
