"Thank you. You look pretty nice yourself" she smiles and leans in to kiss him lightly.

"I have no idea what the bar's up to but," she pauses and shrugs her shoulders before leaning in to wrap her arms around his neck, "I don't mind. Have any plans tonight?"

He slides his arms around her waist and smiles at her, hardly able to believe his luck. This couldn't be more perfect.

'Whatever she's doing is fine with me.' He leans in and kisses her, to reassure himself that he can and she won't freak out. 'I didn't have plans but I think I do now.'

[OOC: FYI - I'm online till 10pm doing this and massive studying before the weekend.]

She kisses back and feels a nervous, fluttery feeling in her stomach. It's different from the way she usually feels kissing him but she ignores.

Chris pulls back and smiles at him, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious. "Did any of those plans involve food?"

[OOC: No worries mate, will easily be finished before then I'd imagine. :)]

He grins a little. He's not hungry but if that's what she wants, it's fine. He knows what he wants and he'll do whatever it takes to keep her sweet. For now.

'Sure did. I wish this place did room service but as it is, I guess we'll have to go downstairs.' He opens the door and gestures out into the hallway with a flourish and a relaxed smile. 'Shall we?'

"Let's," she says with a small smile. She hooks her arm through his.

"So, how are you. I'm guessing you heard about Tony and Michelle right?"

He starts walking her down the the hallway, trying to keep the smile from turning into a smug grin.

'I'm good. And yeah, I heard about Tony and Michelle. It's great isn't it?'

Suitably vague. He doesn't know the details but Kim's reaction had told him that their getting married was good news.

"It is. And less headache than another wedding. Especially on the outside," she says as the reach the landing and enter the bar.

"Have they told you yet if they're still having their wedding here?"

He leads her towards a booth, wondering what she means about another wedding on the outside, and one here. But it doesn't seem to require a response so he lets it go.

'No they haven't. I haven't seen either one of them for a few days.' Which is true enough. He releases her arm to allow her to sit first, then slides into the seat opposite her. 'I hope they do, it'll be fun I think.'

He flags down a rat so they can get some drinks, then smiles into her eyes. Beautiful Bauer, you're a lucky man...

...or maybe not...

Chris smiles back and reaches across the table to take his hand. There's still that niggling feeling in her stomach that she's ignoring.

"Hopefully, you'll know soon if they're still having the wedding," she says. The waitrat comes by with their drinks and she takes a sip of hers.

"Otherwise, you might still have a bachelor party to plan."

He carefully laces his fingers with hers and keeps smiling, his eyes searching hers for any signs of suspiscion. Chris might be the hardest of them all to fool.

'Oh well, planning a party might be fun.' He sips his scotch, not thinking about whether that was the right comment to make or not. 'I should make an effort to go find Tony at some point.' He squeezes her hand lightly. 'But not until tomorrow.'

She nods and replies, "They might still be on their honeymoon."

Chris wonders if she's ever seen Jack drink before. She doesn't think she has but she still brushes the thought aside. It's a date. What else would he order?

"Hey, did you ever finish that book? The bar is still not giving me anything to read and it's either borrowing from you or borrowing some book on economics from my dad."

Book?

He hadn't noticed any books in Jack's room, they're not the sort of things he looks out for. He tries to brush it off lightly.

'I got bored of it. You can take it whenever you like.' He raises her palm to his mouth and kisses it softly. 'Of course, that means you'll have to come up to my room to get it...'

There's a flirtatious smile on his face. He has no clue how Jack astc around women when he's not high, or drunk, they're the only times he's seen him with them. But no girl minds a bit of flirting, right?

"Bored? Really?" She asks with some surprise. "I haven't read the book yet but the movie was incredible."

She smiles when he kisses her palm, though that nervous feeling come back and she almost wants to take another sip of her drink to get rid of it. What is wrong with me tonight? Why do I feel so out of it with him?

"Why do I have a feeling I wouldn't get much reading done?"

His eyes gleam with amusement. 'Well, I would hope that you wouldn't mind the distraction...'

He releases her hand and sits back, still smiling. 'Decided what you want to eat yet?'

Slight tone of innuendo? Well, maybe...

She detects the note of innuendo and rolls her eyes but smiles. Chris looks over at the special's menu and thinks for a moment. "Probably the chicken, something light."

She looks back at him. "What about you?"

'Mmm, chicken's fine.' He doesn't give a damn what they eat and the way he's looking at her should make that clear. But he's careful not to push it too far - although she hadn't minded the innuendo, so maybe he was safe enough with this.

Damn Bauer, I bet you're really going to miss her.

Chris ducks her head slightly and smiles, but it's a nervous smile and his look does make her nervous but she doesn't know why.

They order their dinner from the waitrat and, due to it being a slow night, they get their food quickly. Dinner conversation is mostly small talk, Jack's answers are mostly of the vague and innocuous variety.

After their meal is over, Chris sips her wine - her second glass and looks at Jack over the table. "Jack ... is everything all right?"

She feels silly for asking, he hasn't said anything but she just feels like something is off.

He frowns slightly as he takes a mouthful of scotch, but more in a curious way than an annoyed one.

'I'm having dinner with you Chris, what could possibly be wrong?' The smile edges towards being a smirk. 'So yes, everything's fine. Why?'

Chris shrugs, now feeling like she was worrying over nothing. I am. There's nothing to worry about now.

"I don't know, it's nothing," she says with a slight wave of her hand. "I was just wondering. There's always seems to be something happening or going wrong around us."

He chuckles lightly and reaches for her hand, tracing his fingers over the palm. 'You can say that again. But there's nothing going wrong at the moment, so lets enjoy it.' He cocks an eyebrow. 'Upstairs.'

The gesture's familiar and should be comforting but it's not. What's wrong with me? Why am I so wound up?

Maybe she should have more wine with dinner.

"All right," she says softly, despite the inexplicable urge to say no. She slides out of her seat and stands, waiting for him to join her.

Maybe she was the one who was off today.

He stands, and something seems wrong with her. Not that he knows how she normally is - but there's something edgy about her. So he takes her hand and smiles with an expression of faint concern, as though she's acting strangely. 'Are you OK?'

She blushes and gives his hand a squeeze. "I'm just a little wound up. Maybe I shouldn't have had the second iced latte."

He puts an arm around her reassuringly and steers her towards the stairs. 'Hey its OK. You just need to relax a little is all.' He stops her before they reach the stairs, turns into her and kisses her softly. 'Everything's fine Chris. Don't worry.'

She kiss back and leans into his arms.

"Yeah, you're probably right." Chris agrees, trying to convince herself.

She touches the label of his jacket. "I wonder what's up with the bar and the clothing she's been choosing for you lately." Chris grins a little. "You might wake up to that toga, yet."
